Hi, I’m so glad you took a moment to check this out. You may be here because you saw one of the you’re invited cards. So just what is it that we are inviting you to? We call it Calvary, or CBC, or church. It’s really a family. A group of people that come together for one reason – to glorify God. So what’s the deal with that?
We’ve realized the greatness of God in providing a plan of salvation. And we worship and serve Him out of gratitude. You see, none of us are perfect. Each person here has committed high treason against the Creator God by choosing our way instead of following Him (that’s called sin). That’s why we’re separated from God. However, He demonstrated how good, and how kind, and how loving He is, by providing a substitute to pay the punishment for our treason. Of course, no amount of money could pay that fine. The required payment was death. Jesus Christ died in our place; to take our punishment.
And that’s not all! Jesus then conquered death by rising from the dead! Through Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection, we get 2 things: we're not punished, which we definitely deserve, and secondly, we get the perfect record of Jesus, which we definitely don’t deserve! We call that Salvation.
And you can have it too! Repent - turn from sin and turn to Him. And fully trust that Jesus Christ paid for your sin. Jesus Christ covers us with His perfect record and God adopts us into His family – with all the benefits!
And that’s why we call it a church family. Because we’re part of God’s family.
