Covid-19 Update

An update from Caleb Bowman:
May 5, 2020

As Governor Kelly has announced the plan for Re-Opening Kansas, I am excited to share our plans for returning to in-person services. The new executive order has some great information and opportunities for us as a gathered church. The order allows for multiple groups of 10 people to meet in the same facility as long as a 6 foot distance is maintained between groups.

So, this Sunday morning, May 10, we are going to host a live, in-person service at 10:30 a.m. This service is open to those who would like to attend in-person, and it will also be streamed live on-line for those who would prefer to stay home.

I’ll explain more details of how we are preparing for this in a moment. First, I’d like to emphasize, if you would prefer to stay home and not attend in person, if you are part of the more vulnerable and high-risk part of our population, or if you are experiencing any kind of symptoms, we request that you remain at home and participate on-line.

We are excited to return to in-person meetings and are diligently preparing for any who choose to come.

  • We have maintained our janitorial staff, and the church has been thoroughly cleaned throughout this pandemic.
  • Door greeters and ushers will be here to open the door for you.
  • We will have offering collection boxes rather than passing the offering plate.
  • We will maintain social distancing protocols including not shaking hands.

Additionally, we ask that family units sit together and maintain a 6 foot distance from others. The service will be in the auditorium and there will also be a live feed and additional seating in the gym, so there will be plenty of room! You will not be required to wear a mask, however, you are welcome to wear one if you would like. If you would like a mask and don’t have one of your own, we will have some available.

With these preparations in place, we are excited for this Sunday’s service. At this point we will only be meeting for our morning service. We will not have Sunday School classes, nursery, or an evening service. We’ll let you know when these will resume as soon as we have our plans in place. We will continue to have our Calvary Kids program on-line, so be sure to check it out each week!

As I said before, if you prefer to stay home or if you are part of the vulnerable and high-risk part of our population, we encourage you to stay home and participate on-line.

Please continue to pray for our nation, our community, and our church! If you have any questions, please contact us here at the office. May God bless you this week!
Caleb
