2023 Ironmen Summit

The Ironmen Summit 2023 theme is “Men on a Mission”!
As men on a mission, our goal will be to motivate and equip you to fulfill the prime directive for His glory.
This event will be hosted at CBC and will include worship, video teaching from Flint Hills Bible Church, coffee and donuts in the morning, and lunch at noon. Each man will receive a books for further study.
This event is for men and young men (MS age and up). The cost is $20 (now $10 - thanks to a generous donation) for each man registered. Also, if a father and son register together the son will be half off and they will only receive one book for the household. Payment will be collected at the door.

Fall Food Drive 2022

Congratulations to the Awana Club! They brought 1090 items!
Team Church ended with a total of 805 items.
Together we donated 1895 items with a weight of 1793 pounds.
The Food Pantry was very grateful for all the donations and wrote us a note:

How many ways can we spread the Gospel? Well, how about preaching, street evangelism, and witnessing to neighbors? Then, there’s radio, podcasts, TV, and social media. Oh, and how about counseling ministries, orphanages, and crisis pregnancy centers? The ways are endless!
The 2022 Mission Conference title is In Season and Out, from the scripture 2 Timothy 2:4 where we find that we are to “preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season.”
This conference considers the work of BIEM and their creative and adaptive strategies to reach the lost. For over 40 years, BIEM has used creative solutions to broadcast, print, smuggle, and expand the gospel in Eastern European and Central Asian countries.
Our guest speaker is Sam Slobodian, president of BIEM. He is accompanied by Eugene Buyko, a Ukrainian pastor and humanitarian aid organizer in the ongoing war in Ukraine. Brother Jim Sloan, missionary to the deaf, also joins us to share ministry reports.
In Season and Out showcases the stories of BIEM’s outreach throughout the last 40 years and asks us “how will you prepare to creatively share the gospel?” Set a reminder for October 7,8, and 9 and plan to join us!

Conference Schedule
The conference begins on Friday evening with a meal.
The Food for You and Your Crew meal is served before the service at 6:00 in the Fellowship Hall. It's goal is to alleviate the time crunch of prepping a dinner and attending the conference. The meal is free, but we would appreciate any help with the cost. Look for a donation basket on the serving tables. It is very important to sign up if you plan to attend a meal. After the meal, we'll meet in the auditorium for the service at 7:00.
Each service will include inspirational singing, engaging reports from missionaries, and an thoughtful sermon from our main speaker Sam Slobodian. Sam is the president of Baptist International Evangelistic Ministries (BIEM). Other speakers include missionary to the deaf, Jim Sloan, and Ukrainian pastor and humanitarian aid organizer, Eugene Buyko.
Saturday evening will include a Food for You and Your Crew meal with the evening service following.
On Sunday morning, all Teens and Adults are learning together in the auditorium during the Sunday School/ABC time slot, 9:15-10:15. The Morning Service begins at 10:30.
Sunday Evening at 6 PM, our missionary guests sit down for a Q&A. This Question & Answer time will be facilitated by Pastor of Discipleship Jon Durso and is your opportunity to hear candidly from the missionaries. Submit your question by emailing Pastor Jon (jond@cbcks.org) or by writing it down and putting it in the box in the church office.
Plan a little extra time to talk to the missionaries before and after services. They would love to meet you!

Kids
Nursery and Preschool child care (Infants-Preschool Age) is being provided during the Mission Conference. Kids older than preschool are encouraged to attend the conference in the auditorium. The kids in grades K-5 will be presenting special music on both Friday and Saturday evening. They will be practicing this music as part of Sunday School on September 25 and October 2.
Kids attending the conference on Friday and Saturday will have an opportunity to compete in an essay contest. Kids can take notes during the service, and then write a grade-appropriate essay about what they learned. These essays should be turned in at the library. Each person who submits an essay will get a prize! One winner will be chosen from each grade category (K-1st, 2-3rd, and 4-5th grade) to win a special prize.
Missionary Guests
Dr. Sam Slobodian, President of Baptist International Evangelistic Ministries
Missionaries Sam and Amy Slobodian have served with Baptist International Evangelistic Ministries, (BIEM) since 1982. Sam directs the ministry of BIEM as President and Amy works in the mission office. Sam’s trumpet playing is heard on Christian radio stations through recordings entitled “Sound the Trumpet”.
BIEM has been reaching Russia and Eastern Europe since 1981. Headquartered in the Indianapolis area, BIEM focuses on evangelism, church-planting, training nationals and Gospel literature distribution in the former Soviet bloc. Evangelism through missionary radio was the initial focus of this ministry in the early years. Church Planting became the main focus of BIEM in 1992. The radio ministry and many trips behind the Iron Curtain provided BIEM with ideal contacts for planting churches in Russia and Ukraine. BIEM’s approach to fulfilling the missionary mandate in Russia and Eastern Europe features the support, training and equipping of dedicated and prepared nationals.
Through this partnership of an American prayer and support base with national Christians and churches, BIEM has been able to reach countless souls and has planted churches in Russia and Eastern Europe. In 2005,BIEM expanded into the Muslim stronghold of Central Asia (Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan). In 2007, BIEM made further expansion into Belarus and Western Asia.
Many of the 104 churches established through this ministry are now self-supporting and we have just completed our 54st church building program. BIEM’s efforts also include training over 300 Russian and Ukrainian national pastors, missionaries and Christian workers through schools established at various locations.
Since the War in Ukraine began BIEM has been supplying our church planters with hundreds of tons of aid that they are distributing to those in need along with a Gospel message. God is using this outreach to save many souls and lift up the testimony of the church in Ukraine.

Eugene Buyko serves as BIEM’s director in Ukraine. He oversees BIEM’s team of church planters and children’s workers there. He has been instrumental in helping church planters to get established even in difficult areas. Eugene is exceptionally gifted in navigating governmental bureaucratic requirements for projects such as shipping 40-ft. containers of humanitarian aid, purchases of property for church buildings, and organizing BIEM’s Ukrainian camping program, which involves over thousands of campers in over 20 different camps. Eugene has planted a new church in Bilogorodka which is a suburb of Kiev the capital of Ukraine. This is where the mayor gave land for this church to be built in this rapidly growing area.
During the war the Russian army came with a few miles of Bilogorodka which is in the Bucha area where the Russian army committed atrocities which have been reported by media world wide. Brother Eugene leads a team that has been able to provide significant aid to these devastated communities. Even though men between the ages of 18 and 60 are not allowed to leave Ukraine during the war, recently the Ukrainian government made a provision which allows pastors to travel to the US if it is for religious purposes conducted by a charitable entity. Last month BIEM was able to get one of our church planters to visit the United States under this provision. Brother Eugene has been in the thick of the conflict from the first day of the war unti
Though Eugene’s son Mikhail who is 19 cannot come, we have obtained visa’s for his wife Sophia and daughters Angelica 20, Solomia 16 and Ivanka 9. This family is quite musical and are certainly going to be blessing to churches in the US.
Jim Sloan, Missionary to the Deaf
Jim has been ministering to the Deaf all his life. He has worked as a full-time staff pastor and as an administrator of a Deaf school in Jamaica. He preaches to the Deaf whenever and wherever invited.

Personal Outreach Challenge
We’re forming a 24 Hour Prayer Chain to pray for the people with whom we are making a connection. Everyone can visit the table in the foyer and choose a 20 minute time slot. This time slot will be your turn to pray each day during the week of October 10-15. The goal is to have someone praying for the outreach at all hours during the lead up to Sunday.We will compile the names from the Personal Outreach Challenge into a list so we can pray for each person during our 20 minute time slot. Look for an email with both a list of names to pray for and a reminder of when your 20 minute time slot is.
Prayer is so incredibly powerful; let’s see how the Lord will work through us!
Sustain Ukraine Collection Drive
Help our brothers and sisters in Ukraine with needed supplies.
At this conference, we are collecting items to pack in a BIEM shipping container. These items are in short supply in Ukraine and will be a huge aid to their mission.

Make a Love Offering!
Monetary donations will be going to help pay for the cost of the shipping container. Shipping a container to Ukraine has a price tag of about $8000 - but that’s a good deal because the container can hold 30,000 pounds! Donate through offering envelopes found in the pew rack and place them in the Giving Boxes in the main foyer. Mark checks with a memo for BIEM Container.

The Beautiful Christ - Easter 2022

We gather together on Easter to celebrate the resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ! The choir presents a cantata depicting The Beautiful Christ. We sing together as a congregation songs of hope and adoration. Pastor Caleb Bowman preaches from Isaiah 53.
We hope you will join us in celebration! Adult Bible Communities and Sunday School start at 9:15, with the Morning Service beginning at 10:30.

Fall Food Drive 2021

Donate food to support the Derby Community Food Pantry at the annual Fall Food Drive. It runs through November 21.
Drop off food in the foyer at the food drive staging area. Check out the list for the most helpful items to donate – as well as the items they do not need, like canned corn, beans, or any expired food!
The Awana clubs are competing boys vs. girls this year. No food dropped off at the staging area counts for the contest – it has to be placed in the team’s collection bins on Wednesday night.
