2020 EASTER SUN RUN - IMPORTANT EVENT CHANGE

 

Dear Easter Sun Run Community, 

The past week has been full of turmoil and uncertainty for our country, and world. While we are deeply disappointed that we will not be able to host the Easter Sun Run at Sedgwick County Park next month, the mission of the Easter Sun Run will go on, as it is one of our biggest fundraisers for the work of Youth Horizons. I am happy to announce that the Easter Sun Run is going virtual. We are prioritizing health and safety of our runners, volunteers, and staff and are responding to guidance from health and governmental officials. 

How will a virtual run work? On the weekend of Easter, instead of gathering to run/walk at Sedgwick County Park, we encourage you to go the distance you registered for, whether that's 2 miles or 10K, and whether that's running, walking, or skipping. Different location (your neighborhood, park, etc.). Same weekend. Same mission. Since this is our 26th year of the race, we see this virtual run as a time for us, as a community, to show our strength in a challenging time, and a chance to get out of the house to run or walk physically with family and friends and virtually with our community around the city and state. 

Registrants will still receive a very special t-shirt, a chance at door prizes, and a chance at medals if you choose the option to join the virtual race. Please encourage others who have yet to sign up to still join you! 

If running virtually is not of interest to you, you can transfer your registration into a donation to Youth Horizons. That money will go directly to serving at-risk youth in our community and training the adults that work with them to be the best advocates and role models they can be. 

Whether you choose to support us by being a virtual runner or by donating, you are supporting our community in big ways and, in partnership with our sponsors, the mission of Youth Horizons and of the Easter Sun Run to fund that mission, will go on.
