The Silence and the Sound presented by the Calvary Baptist Church Choir

Have you wondered about Christmas this year? I mean really wondered?

Let all mortal flesh keep silence, and with fear and trembling stand.

Ponder nothing earthly minded, for with blessing in His hand,

Christ our God to earth descendeth, our full homage to demand.

The lines above come from a 5th century liturgy entitled Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silent. The wonder of Christmas is usually described in lights, presents, and delightful treats, but these words call us to wonder at something else. The work of God for our salvation.

On December 20, the choir presents one of our favorite cantatas, The Silence and the Sound. An arrangement of Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silent launches the cantata which then continues with songs both new and old including Sleeping Adonai, Unto Us, and Shout! Sing Hallelujah. Each song directs our attention to the wonder and purpose of Christmas.

2020 was not a silent year. So many things shrieked for attention and demanded that we respond.

This Christmas season take time to keep silence.

Stand in awe.

Ponder how Christ came.

Respond to Him.

The cantata is free and no tickets are required.
Auditorium capacity is limited to less than 50%. Overflow seating will be available.

The cantata will be livestreamed on our Youtube channel
